Signal Patterns

The Battles within the Conscious Mind

So it seems that we are constantly caught in an epic battle. We often adhere to old patterns instead of deconstruct that knowledge and misinformation that will enable us to make sense of things and be able to grow. Our minds must learn to retransmit, and resend the information that it contains that exists outside of our realm of thought. In order to develop our capacity to learn we must provide ourselves with the best possible information that enables us to be able to make if not better, at least conscious choices. With choice, however, comes responsibility and it becomes the gift and burden of the mind to be able to recognize and discern which choices help, and which choices hinder our ability to learn, find peace within, or grow. When we use our situational creativity to stop adverse behavioral patterns we consciously create more effective mechanisms of problem solving. This helps us get through challenging situations more effectively and with less frustration. But the challenge lies in obtaining this knowledge, because it can only be found when we integrate practice, study and discipline into our lives. The only way to get better at making these choices is by consciously training and conditioning ourselves to make these decisions and by learning to become receptive to alternative forms of problem solving so that when the opportunity arises we'll be better equipped to make better and more creative choices as we journey down our chosen paths.

Femme Bots

I think that it's great that robotic women in film and media have finally moved from being simply viewed as "sex objects" to something with a little more depth and complexity. While no one will dispute that this one is clearly unstable and that it's only a matter of time before she goes on some sort of rampage. But I was reading on some guy's blog, I don't even remember which one at this point where all of the commentors felt that having a younger female robot play such an aggressive role took away from the show because argumentatively, the physics couldn't explain how her "little punches" and her small physique wouldn't account how she could demonstrate the amount of strength that she had. I question whether this was truly the cause of their dissention or because they in some way felt emasculated by having a character such as this.
What I loved about this character is I felt that she did show a fair amount of substance apart from her very ice-cold analytical nature; [Very unlike other images you see of femme bots like in the Heineken beer keg commercials or the femme bots from the Austin Powers movies]. The interactions between her and the Latina chick sort of struck me as a bit odd, as well as her morbid curiosity and execution of certain destructive tasks. But I find her intelligence and reasoning refreshing even if I do not always understand the basis for it, and the ballerina scene.... Exquisite! I only wish they had more female characters with this amount of beauty and intelligence [and rational ability and strength] on television. Guys may not like it, but I think women need something like this to bring about awareness of different attributes that women can possess so that they can see these things and continue to feel empowered.
